What is Fabric?

Overview of the distributed compute platform

Overview

Fabric is a distributed compute platform that connects people who need computing power with people who have it.

Fabric works as a two-sided marketplace:

For Device Owners (Node Providers):
Install the Fabric Agent on your Mac, Windows PC, or Linux server. When your device is idle, it automatically picks up computing jobs from the network and earns you money. Your device becomes a node in a global compute network.

For Developers & Businesses:
Submit AI/ML workloads through our dashboard or API. Your jobs are distributed across the network and executed on capable hardware. Pay only for what you use, at a fraction of traditional cloud costs.

How It Is Different

Traditional Cloud Computing:

  • Rent servers by the hour
  • Pay even when idle
  • Complex infrastructure setup
  • Limited to data center hardware

Fabric:

  • Pay per job, not per hour
  • No infrastructure to manage
  • Access to diverse hardware (M1/M2/M3/M4 Macs, NVIDIA GPUs, etc.)
  • Jobs run on real hardware owned by real people

What Can You Do With Fabric?

Run AI/ML Workloads:

  • Train machine learning models
  • Run inference (text, image, audio)
  • Process data at scale
  • Transcribe audio with Whisper
  • Generate embeddings

Build AI-Powered Products:

  • Create AI Assistants (chatbots) for your website
  • Crawl and index website content
  • Process customer data

Earn From Idle Hardware:

  • Turn your Mac or PC into a passive income source
  • Get paid for every job your device completes
  • No impact on your daily work

Supported Platforms

Device Owners can run the agent on:

  • macOS (Apple Silicon: M1, M2, M3, M4)
  • macOS (Intel)
  • Windows 10/11
  • Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, and most distributions)

Developers can submit jobs via:

  • Web dashboard (fabric.carmel.so)
  • REST API
  • Python SDK
