Usage Limits & Overages

How limits work and what happens when you exceed them

How Limits Work

Each plan includes monthly limits for different workload types. Limits reset on your billing date each month.

Checking Your Usage

  • Log in to fabric.carmel.so
  • Go to Dashboard or Settings > Usage
  • View usage for each workload type
  • See percentage of monthly limit used

What Happens at Your Limit

Free tier:
Jobs stop. You must upgrade to continue.

Paid plans (without overage enabled):
Jobs stop. Set an overage limit to continue.

Paid plans (with overage enabled):
Jobs continue. Usage beyond your plan is billed as overage.

Setting an Overage Limit

Control your maximum monthly spend:

  • Go to Settings > Billing
  • Find "Overage Limit"
  • Choose a limit:
    • $0 (hard stop at plan limits)
    • $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500
    • Custom amount (up to $10,000)
  • Save

How Overage Billing Works

When you set an overage limit, we pre-authorize that amount on your card

  • Jobs continue running even past plan limits
  • At billing cycle end, we charge only what you actually used
  • Pre-authorization is released for the unused amount

Example:

  • Overage limit: $100
  • Actual overage: $45
  • Charged: $45 (not $100)

Overage Rates

Pre-Authorization Details

When you set an overage limit:

  • We place a hold on your card for that amount
  • This is not a charge, just a hold
  • Pre-authorizations renew each billing cycle
  • If pre-auth fails, you're notified

Usage Alerts

Get notified before hitting limits:

  • Go to Settings > Notifications
  • Enable usage alerts
  • Receive warnings at 80% and 100% of limits

Tips for Managing Usage

Set a conservative overage limit. Start low, increase if needed.

Monitor weekly. Check your dashboard regularly.

Consider upgrading. If overages exceed the cost difference, upgrade your plan.

Use workflows. Preset configurations are often more efficient.

Usage Carryover

Unused limits do NOT carry over. Each billing cycle starts fresh.
